for those of you remember...last summer my husband bought a truck and 2 hours later had it buries in mud...and i have been trying to scrap these photo's since than...this word was perfect for them!! curious to know about the weather here?? it has finally warmed up!!! and by warmed up i mean there is no wind chill and it's only -22c instead of -32c...see totally warm...almost bathing suit weather here!!! i did happen to get some photo's of the hoar frost...i love how pretty it makes the trees look!!! and with all the cold weather we started the next phase of renovations in our house...we are painting the girl's rooms upstairs...and we have made an exciting discovery!!!we..well, i...decided that we should replace all the baseboards and trim in our house as we go room from room...so while i started painting the primer on delainey's wall, jay ripped off all the baseboard. now remember, my house was built almost a hundred years ago...but we have been sadly disappointed by the lack of original features in this house...it was a simply built house from the get go...but whatever was here to add character has been covered up, removed, or destroyed over the years...until... yes...i mentioned a discovery...

the baseboards are off...and i say...let's see what's under the carpet...jay said nothing worth getting excited about. so up comes the carpet...and we discover beautiful...plywood!! but we noticed parts of the floor where the plywood didn't come all the way to the wall that it looked like there could be wood under it...getting excited again!!! so jay pulls up one of the plywood boards and guess what??? beautiful hardwood!!!

it needs some TLC...but it's hardwood, nonetheless, and it's under the entire upstairs carpet...which means haillee's room too... and down our stairs!!! and we have a good indication that it's under the current flooring on the main floor!! we finally lucked out and found some of the original charm in this house!!! and to keep things true to the era this house was built...jay is going to be making the new baseboards for this house. right now we have the ugly, generic, prefabbed 2 inch baseboards... but we are going to be putting back the 6 inch style from that day. there is 6 inch baseboard running up alongside the upstairs staircase...it was hidden by the carpet...so my handy hubby is going to recreate baseboards for the rest of the house to match what is on the stairs...sooooooooooooo excited!! so i will show you the progress once the carpet comes up for good and i will show you delainey's room once it's done...i love the new colour...it's a pretty steely cornflower light blue colour...just to tease you...here's the before... 1. Ooh! The hardwood discovery is awesome! I so couldn't handle all the reno's it would take to make an old house keep it's beautiful charm, but I LOVE the look of them when they're done! I have a house that's not even a year old... not very charming at all. lol
I think I will take your little word (and your AMAZING layout) and get my sick butt out of bed and go CREATE!
