have youself a homemade christmas, day 5

one of my favourite things about the christmas season is the cooking...and i always wonder why we seem to bring out our best recipes only for christmas...and why can't we enjoy such cooking throughout the year...all those cookies...and squares...and breads...and dips...and candy...hmmm...maybe it's a good thing they only come out once a year, lol!!!

well today i thought i would share with you one of my kid's favourites....homemade oreo cookies...i came across this recipe in a cookie exchange, an old friend made them and they have been requested ever since!!! this recipe makes a lot too...so it makes for great gifts on the fly!!!

homemade oreo cookies

3 pkg's devil's food chocolate cake

6 eggs

1 cup oil

cream cheese frosting ( see below instructions)

-preheat oven to 350

-mix all the ingredients together, the dough will be very stiff

- drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet (i use a small ice cream scoop, makes a nice size and keeps them all the same size)

- bake for about 8 minutes

-cool completely on a wire rack

- spread some frosting on the flat side of a cooled cookie and top with another cookie to create a sandwich, repeat until all the cookies have been made into oreos

cream cheese frosting

2 pkg's of softened cream cheese

1/2 cup softened butter

2 cups icing sugar

1 tsp vanilla

-mix all the ingredients together til smooth and creamy

seriously good stuff...careful tho...they are extremely addicting!!! havea  fabulous day!!!

salut!

  1. I'm sure these are better that the originals - maybe we'll chip them into our ice-cream down (south) here!
